Tim Linn
How long have you been playing tennis? Started in 1985 at the age of 27.

How long have you been coaching at Calvary Chapel? I started coaching in 1998, so this is my 11th season.

What team do you coach at Calvary? Varsity.

Why do you coach? The satisfaction of influencing young people’s lives for the good is priceless!

What keeps bringing you back each year to coach again? The challenge of working with a new set of players each year and the joy of seeing the returning players again.

What have you accomplished in your tennis career? In over 20 years of tennis, I have played in over 240 tournaments with trophies in 142 of those tournaments.

What are you doing currently in your tennis? Playing Doubles in the 5.0 – 6.6 division in local tournaments with the same men’s partner for 18 years. Also on 2 USTA men’s teams.

Will you continue to coach and play tennis? YES … I can’t NOT coach!”

Tell us about your family: Been married to my wife Susie for 29 years and we have one son, Ben, who is 23 years old.

What is your greatest moment in your career as a player? Playing tennis on a men’s USTA team; representing Southern California in Hawaii in October 2006.

What is your greatest memory in your coaching career? When parents say “You’ve made a difference in my daughter’s life.”

Sue Linn
How long have you been playing tennis? 23 years.

How long have you been coaching at Calvary Chapel? 10 years.

What team do you coach at Calvary? Supervise entire tennis program and coach the Sonshine League.

Why do you coach? Mentoring is the key to our future generation of leaders.

What keeps bringing you back each year to coach again? Being involved in a wonderful program.

What have you accomplished in your tennis career? Winning the A Division Title amongst 2500 players.

What are you doing currently in your tennis? Playing for a club in a women’s league.

Will you continue to coach and play tennis? YES

Tell us about your family: Married to Tim for 29 years and have one son, Ben, who is 23 years old.

What is your greatest moment in your career as a player? Being on a USTA women’s team that won the National Title in 2002.

Fred Houston
How long have you been playing tennis? I have been playing tennis for approximately 36 years. Since my son first started taking tennis lessons.

How long have you been coaching at Calvary Chapel? The 2008 season will be my 7th year.

What team do you coach at Calvary? The J.V. Travel Tennis Team.

Why do you coach? I thoroughly enjoy seeing the CCHS girls learn new skills and use those new found skills in competition. Seeing the girls maturing, their enthusiasm, their excitement for the game of tennis and their Christian spirit is a tremendous gift for me.

What keeps bringing you back each year to coach again? Helping the CCHS girls learn to appreciate the game of tennis and to help and assist Tim and Sue Linn with their mission.

What have you accomplished in your tennis career? I have enjoyed playing in Father/Son tennis tournaments. Playing tennis with my wife and making some wonderful friends and meeting Tim and Sue Linn and the great tennis teams at Calvary Chapel.

What are you doing currently in your tennis? I’m playing in local and national Senior Tennis Tournaments. I’m working with several youngsters; helping them develop in their love for the game of tennis.

Will you continue to coach and play tennis? YES

Tell us about your family: Married 46 years, with one son, who played tennis in HS and college. One daughter-in-law and one grandson, who turns 4 in July 2008 and will be starting tennis lessons with Grandpa twice a week. My wife and I play tennis almost every day.

What is your greatest moment in your career as a player? Winning the Adoption Guild Tennis Tournament; the largest armature tennis tournament in the US.

What is your greatest memory in your coaching career? Watching the CCHS JV Tennis Team play a top ranked Laguna Beach HS team and tying them in matches won … then winning the match after counting the games, beating LBHS in games won!

Dave Rann

How long have you been playing tennis? 34 years.

How long have you been coaching at Calvary Chapel? 9 years.

What team do you coach at Calvary? JV Eagles.

Why do you coach? Ministry to the girls – LOVE TENNIS!

What keeps bringing you back each year to coach again? The relationships with the parents and girls.

What have you accomplished in your tennis career? High School Varsity – 1 year college tennis.

What are you doing currently in your tennis? Occasional tournaments.

Will you continue to coach and play tennis? God willing.

Tell us about your family: Wife, Barbara, son, Andrew, daughters, Erin and Nicole – both played for CCHS Varsity Tennis.

What is your greatest moment in your career as a player? #1 Singles in HS, several 4.5 Finals recently.

What is your greatest memory in your coaching career? Hearing from other team’s parents and players how godly our girls have acted towards them.

Milo Lystne
How long have you been playing tennis? Since 1951; 57 years.

How long have you been coaching at Calvary Chapel? 8 years.

What team do you coach at Calvary? JV Travel.

Why do you coach? To give back to Calvary Chapel where I was saved at a Chuck Smith’s Bible study in 1970.

What keeps bringing you back each year to coach again? The girls are so grateful.

What have you accomplished in your tennis career? Father – Daughter National Rank 13. Senior Doubles Top 30.

What are you doing currently in your tennis? Club play, senior tournaments.

Will you continue to coach and play tennis? YES.

Tell us about your family: 3 adult sons and a wife.

What is your greatest moment in your career as a player? Staying healthy.

What is your greatest memory in your coaching career? Each year at Calvary.
